Facebook launches free VoIP Calling in the U.S. for iPhone

facebook-messenger-voipFacebook Launches FREE VoIP Messenger service in the United States testing of voice calls. The iPhone users can reach their contacts through the mobile phone network or Wi-fi. The service is only between users who both have the Facebook Messenger app installed. Facebook adds another tool to the toolbox to convince users to stay in it’s platform, launched after an exploration with Graph Search.

Facebook had already started testing free VoIP Calling in Canada. In the U.S. it is not necessary to update the application from the App Store Messenger. Opens another field of comparison with many of the big technologies that have already launched VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) services for free calls on the Internet. It will compete with Apple’s FaceTime, Skype, Google Voice, BlackBerry Messenger. Juniper Research estimates that in 2017 the VoIP users of Facebook and Google will be a over billion. It is a rising friction with the mobile operators who report a lack of compensation for the consumption of voice traffic.

The evolution of online social networks accelerates. It needs to involve its members in the games adds questions for the collective knowledge through Graph Search. The transition to VoIP requires a robust architecture and a long history of technological development. Facebook is a great laboratory of experimentation to figure out how to change large data centers in the coming years. However Google plans for their servers, they have also begun in Kansas City initiative to provide high speed internet.
